7.5 million signed up for PPACA through the Marketplace!

According to Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, it has been announced that over 7.5 million people have signed up for health care through the Marketplace. This week alone, over 400,000 additional people have enrolled. This number will only continue to grow.

As enrollment continues, it is being confirmed that hundreds of thousands of people had started the health enrollment process, but were not able to complete the process before the March 31st deadline. If this is the case, The Exchange will contact them with instructions to complete their application. Anyone who was prevented from submitting their application before the deadline should complete the following steps as soon as possible, in order to qualify for coverage that will begin on May 1, 2014. Residents may also be eligible to enroll outside of the enrollment period if they have an exceptional life event such as a divorce, marriage, adoption, change in state of residency, major income changes, or change in family size. Another exception may be the ineligibility to remain on a parent’s health insurance, due to turning 26 years old.
